Permission granted for a new homeless hostel in Grantham

24 February 2010
People are homeless for many complex reasons, such as family breakdown, loss of employment, debt, health breakdown.

We have been providing homes and tackling homelessness since we built our first scheme in Stamford in 1967.

Following a successful planning application with SKDC, the Barrowby Road Homeless Hostel will provide accommodation and support for up to 6 people who are experiencing homelessness in the South Kesteven District area.

All of our hostels are supervised by experienced staff, who provide assistance with contacting agencies to help with employment, health and education.

We work closely with local councils, health authorities, voluntary groups and the local community to assist residents in finding permanent accommodation.

Although there is no fixed date for opening the hostel, we are currently working with the owner of the building to arrange any necessary changes before residents can move in.

Stuart Fort, Axiom Operations Director, said:

“The new hostel in Barrowby Road will provide a much needed housing provision for homeless people in the Grantham area. We will be working with local agencies and residents to ensure that the hostel becomes a valued contributor towards meeting local housing need.”

“As a housing association who has managed a number of similar accommodation units for over 20 years, we are very aware of the needs of the individuals concerned, including those of the local community”.
