Every tenant, resident and service user has the right to the peaceful enjoyment of their home.
Axiom Housing Association takes all reports of anti-social behaviour seriously.
Anti-social behaviour (ASB) causes real misery for people who want to live peacefully in their home; at Axiom we aim to work with tenants and other agencies to prevent and tacke anti-social behaviour.
We will not accept anti-social behaviour and want tenants to feel confident about reporting incidents.
We have developed a range of measures so that we can tackle unacceptable behaviour quickly and firmly. Where necessary we will take legal action to protect our tenants and the wider community who are affected by ASB.
What is anti-social behaviour?
It is behaviour that is capable of causing a nuisance, annoyance or harassment (including racial harassment) to any person who:
Is a tenant of Axiom
A family member of a tenant
A visitor to an Axiom property
Neighbours, their family or visitors
Is a visitor to the neighbourhood
An employee of Axiom and/or contractors
Anti-social behaviour ranges from serious acts of violence and harassment to more everyday incidents like noisy dogs or overgrown gardens. The 16 categories of anti-social behaviour can be found in our leaflet below. Incidents of racial harassment can take the form of offensive or aggressive verbal remarks, physical violence of threats of voilence towards people or their homes because of their race, disability, sexual orientation, religion or culture.
What action we will take
We will record and treat all cases seriously and confidentially from the outset.
In some cases the problem of ASB will be resolved easily and quickly. We encourage those who experience a problem to try and resolve the matter themselves i.e. talk the problem through with the other person; there is always a better chance of resolving a dispute if you try to see each others point of view.
We will offer support for those who need it. For example advocacy, support with literacy and also refer to specialist agencies.
We will agree with you what action is to be taken and agree a timescale for regular contact to keep you updated.
When the problem is more serious
If violence or abuse is threatened we will advise you to call the police. We will work in partnership with the police and other agencies, sharing the problems and challenges, collecting, recording and exchanging information to ensure that a full range of remedies - criminal or civil - are used.
If the problem continues, please let us know and we will use a range of measures to stop the problem continuing. Please feel free to complete the Feedback and Enquiries questionnaire, on the link above, should you wish to submit an incidence of ASB via our website.
Monitoring ASBWe will record all cases of anti-social behaviour and racial harassment. We will monitor each case and how it is being dealt with. We will keep you informed of how we deal with anti-social behaviour through our quarterly Tenants' Newsletter ARISE
If you are dissatisfied with the way we have handled an issue of ASB, you have the right to use our complaints policy, a copy of which can be found under feedback and enquiries and/or the leaflets section.
